Academics & Time Table

The department offers B. Tech and M. Tech, and Ph. D. programs with a wide choice of specializations, electives and research areas. The M. Tech Programme provides advance learning of the specialized area. The department also offers a fulltime/part-time advanced programme in thermal, production, design, energy and Industrial engineering areas leading to the Ph. D degree. Selected full time Ph. D. students receive institute assistantship. Presently there are 30 research scholars pursuing Ph. D. programme.

Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs) for UG Programme

01. The program shall develop quality human resources for the need of metallurgical and materials engineering industries for meeting global demands.
02. To facilitate graduates to pursue higher education and get involved in Research and Development.
03. To prepare graduates capable of formulating, analyzing and solving Metallurgical & Materials related problems using Scientific and Mathematical knowledge.
04. Graduates shall be able to undertake planning, designing, development, processing & production activities that include managerial & entrepreneurial skills in the field of Metallurgical & Materials Engineering.
05. To assist the students in the development of their abilities to characterize the materials and assess the structure-property-processing-performance relationship as per the needs.
06. To enable graduates to have innovativeness, cost-effectiveness and safety consciousness for sustainable development.
07. To inculcate analytical and communication skills, leadership qualities and ethical values in graduates and make them aware of societal, legal, health and cultural issues so that they become responsible engineers and citizens.

01. Engineering knowledge: Working knowledge of the fundamentals of chemistry, physics, mathematics, material science, etc. to formulate, analyze, and solve technical and engineering practical problems.

03. Modern tool usage: An ability to use the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice.

01. The Post Graduates will know depth about the principles and practices in Metallurgy & Materials.

03. Acquire skills to compile data and write coherent, concise, and accurate technical reports and also deliver effective presentations.
